After a fire breaks out in a certain space of a building, the fire will spread and expand to other spaces due to the convection and radiation of heat, or from the burnt areas of floors, walls, and door and window openings, and eventually develop into a fire of the entire building. Therefore, for buildings with large scale, area, or multiple floors or high-rise buildings, it is very important to control the fire within the burning area within a certain period of time. The so-called fire compartment is a local area (spatial unit) divided by fire-resistant partition components that can prevent the spread of fire to other parts of the same building within a certain period of time. The measure of dividing fire zones inside buildings can effectively control the fire within a certain range in case of a fire, reduce fire losses, and provide favorable conditions for personnel evacuation and firefighting. Fire compartments can be divided into two categories based on their function of preventing fires from spreading beyond the fire compartment. One is vertical fire compartments, which are used to prevent vertical fire spread between floors of multi story or high-rise buildings; The second is a horizontal waterproof partition to prevent fires from expanding and spreading horizontally.
