In order to ensure that fire compartments fully function in the event of a building fire, in addition to meeting the area and structural requirements specified in fire safety regulations, the following requirements should also be met when dividing fire compartments:
(1) The stairwells, front rooms, and certain corridors with refuge functions used as refuge passages are protected from fire damage and kept unobstructed at all times.
(2) Fire separation treatment should be carried out between hazardous areas, different users, office buildings, and production workshops within the same building.
(3) Various vertical shafts in high-rise buildings, such as cable shafts, pipeline shafts, garbage shafts, etc., should be independent fire protection units to ensure that fires outside the shaft cannot spread to the inside of the shaft, and fires inside the shaft cannot spread to the outside of the shaft.
(4) Buildings with fire protection requirements, such as hospitals, should also have smaller fire protection zones within their fire compartments.
(5) High rise buildings should be divided into fire compartments vertically based on each floor as a unit.
(6) All basements of buildings should be divided into fire compartments vertically, with each floor as a unit.
(7) The fire exits set up for extinguishing fires should be well protected against fire.
(8) The fire compartment equipped with automatic sprinkler fire extinguishing equipment can have its allowable area appropriately expanded.
